T his drink was originally created for one of my regular customers. In her exact words, “I want something with vodka and grapefruit but not sweet. I don’t like sweet.”
And thus, Amy’s Special was born – a cocktail that’s not sweet!
“Absolutely fabulous!” She told me after tasting it. Amy ordered it every time she came in. Soon her friends started coming in and asking for it. Since the drink didn’t have a name everyone simply referred to it as Amy’s Special.
That’s how this drink and it’s name was born. We’re thinking about putting it on the menu so if you’re in the area stop by and give it a try!
In a shaker combine:
- 2 oz Belvedere Grapefruit
- 0.5 oz St. Germain
- 0.5 oz lime juice
- 0.75 oz fresh pink grapefruit juice
- 2 Basil leaves
Shake together and strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with a grapefruit peel.
True to it’s name it’s not too sweet but it is absolutely fabulous.
